In all, my experience with Ruhl & Ruhl has been absolutely horrible. Even Eric's boss Mike Wendt out of Davenport/Bettendorf area has been a problem. In my phone conversation with him, where i was letting him know about these issues, he was rude and condescending. He made every excuse under the sun and never once apologized for any of it.
I am still fighting this fight and plan to go to court over these matters very soon. I will never do business with Ruhl & Ruhl again in any fashion.
This group is wonderful to work with. I relocated to the area to be an account manager for one of the manufactures located in Muscatine. Ruhl & Ruhl worked around my schedule to quickly find and purchase a great home that my family loves. I was very impressed with how knowledgable the Realtors are of the local market and how quickly they were able to take my family's needs and wants into account and find a home that was the right fit. They also have in house lending and good relationships with insurance, legal, and construction companies in the area. Those relationships assisted in making the process easy and economical. Darrin Huggins was especially good to work with. I highly recommend requesting him as your Realator.
6 months into living in the home i noticed an issue with the electric that spurred me to look further. I noticed that several things weren't completed on the list from the home inspector.
In addition to this, there were issues with the flooring in 3 rooms that weren't viewable during the original home viewing(s). At closing Eric Schlutz offered me $200 and claimed this would cover the cost to fix these issues. I, again, took him at his word and relied on his honesty and experience. Come to find out that it will cost several times that amount to rectify those issues.
I have now been fighting with Ruhl and Ruhl for over 6 months (Muscatine, IA office) to try and get them to get their clients (or themselves) to honor the conditions of the contract. For 6 months i've been getting ignored, blown off, talked down to in a condescending manner, and they have made zero progress in getting any of the work taken care of. In fact, i've had to reach out to the original electrician that did the work myself and he states that he only did what they asked him to do.
I purchased my house through my own realtor but Ruhl & Ruhl (Eric Schlutz) was the seller's agent. A condition of my purchase was that all of the electrical items found on our home inspection be completed to our satisfaction. We took, in good faith, their word that the work was done. Being that i'm not an electrician that was about all i could do.
